Hubert Owens, GA State House - District 93
Hubert Owens is an Army combat veteran. He now serves his community as President of Yes We Care, Inc., a nonprofit that helps veterans, children, the homeless, and those with serious illnesses. He's also a paralegal for the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and volunteers at the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. Professionally, Hubert owns Trojan Security Service. He has a BS in Criminal Justice from Methodist University and a Master's degree in Theological Studies from Liberty University. He aims to promote life, freedom, unity, and prosperity. Hubert and his wife, Cynthia, have four children.
P.K. Martin, GA State Senate - District 9
P.K. Martin is a Lawrenceville native and currently represents the 9th district. He first took office in 2015. P.K. is also an active participant in his community. He was elected Chairman of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA) Southern Alliance and formerly served on the board of Providence Christian Academy. He is also a member of the Lawrenceville Rotary Club and a former member of Lawrenceville Kiwanis. P.K. received his Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He and his wife, Amanda, have two children, and are active members at their church.
Garry Guan, GA State Senate - District 40
Garry Guan was born in Harbin, China. He came to the United States in 1987 for school, and became a naturalized U.S. citizen. Garry is a professional interpreter and translator, and a small business owner. He came to Georgia in 1992 and since then has been a passionate volunteer and leader with multiple non-profits and professional organizations , including the Partnership for Community Action, National Families in Action, and the Rotary Club of North Atlanta. Garry is married to Paulina Guan, and they have two children. The Guan family attends Norcross First United Methodist Church.
Clint Dixon, GA State Senate - District 45
Clint Dixon was born and raised in Gwinnett County. Over the years, he has served on the Gwinnett County Planning Commission and on the Water and Sewer Authority, where he fought to keep rates low. Clint got his start in the real estate industry in the early 2000s. Currently, he is an Acquisition Manager for Chafin Homes. A committed family man, Clint has been married to his wife Hayden for 16 years, and they have three children. On the weekends, he can be found shuttling his kids around to cheer, football, and basketball practices or games.
Chuck Efstration, GA State House - District 104
Chuck is a proven public servant as both a former prosecutor and indigent defense counsel. Currently, he is a partner in the Gwinnett County firm of McGarity & Efstration, LLC. Chuck grew up in the Hamilton Mill community and graduated from Greater Atlanta Christian School before obtaining degrees from the University of Georgia and Mercer Law School. Chuck previously served as president of the Gwinnett County Bar Association and chairman of the Gwinnett County Republican Party. He and his wife, Ashley, have two sons. Chuck is an Eagle Scout and a Christian.
Johsie Cruz, US House - District 4
Johsira "Johsie" Cruz was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Her father was a missionary for the Southern Baptist Convention for more than 35 years in Venezuela and the United States. Following in her father's footsteps, she earned her BA in Sacred Ministries from Baptist Theology Seminary of Venezuela in 1993. In 1995, Johsie legally immigrated to the United States. She became a US citizen in 2005. Johsie works for The Meridian Group in Alpharetta. She is also VP of RACI, whose mission is to educate the Latino community about the US Constitution and laws in their native language.
Carol Field, GA State House - District 101
Carol Field and her family moved to Lawrenceville in 1995. Carol is a Registered Nurse and served the community at Gwinnett Medical Center until her retirement, spending most of her career in ICU and CCU. She also helped open the first hospital-based pain clinic in Gwinnett County. Carol was Second Vice-Chair of the Gwinnett GOP from 2015 – 2017. She's also held multiple leadership roles for Gwinnett Republican Women. Currently, she is a District Director for the Georgia Federation of Republican Women, and a member of Conservative Republican Women and the Georgia Republican Assembly.
Rich McCormick, US House - District 7
Rich McCormick served more than 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy in combat zones in Africa, the Persian Gulf, and Afghanistan. As a Marine, he flew helicopters and was the Marine Officer Instructor at Georgia Tech and Morehouse College. He was a Commander in the Navy and headed the Emergency Medicine Department in Afghanistan. Rich is a graduate of Morehouse School of Medicine. He also received an MBA from National University in California. Rich and his wife, Debra, an oncologist, have seven children and live in Suwanee. The McCormicks are members of Gwinnett Church.
Matt Reeves, GA State Senate - District 48
Matt is a partner at Andersen, Tate & Carr, the largest full-service law firm in the district and outside of the perimeter in metro Atlanta. He has served his community for more than 16 years and was elected Rotary Club President, as well as other leadership positions in many local civic, nonprofit and business groups in the area. He and his wife Suzette Reeves and their three school-age children live in Duluth and attend Perimeter Church. Reeves graduated with honors from UGA School of Law and Mercer University.
Jody Hice, US House - District 10
Jody Hice was born in Atlanta and grew up in Tucker. He graduated from Asbury College, earned a master’s degree from Southwestern Seminary, and a doctorate in ministry from Luther Rice Seminary. For nearly 25 years, he served churches throughout the area. Jody and Dee Dee Hice were married in 1983 and raised their two daughters in Walton County. They now reside in Greensboro, Georgia. In 2014, Jody was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. His focus is repealing Obamacare, securing our borders, rebuilding our military to keep Americans safe, and overhauling our nation’s tax code.
Brett Harrell, GA State House - District 106
Brett Harrell is an Atlanta native and 45-year resident of Gwinnett County. He holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. For twenty years, he owned and operated a local American Speedy Printing franchise. Brett served the public as a member of the Snellville Planning Commission and City Council, and as mayor from 2000 until 2003. At the end of his mayoral term, Brett chose not to seek re-election. From 2003 until 2009, he was Executive Director of the Evermore Community Improvement District (CID). Brett has served in the Georgia State House since 2011.
Timothy Barr, GA State House - District 103
Timothy Barr was born and raised in Northeast Georgia on a small farm, where he learned responsibility and the importance of hard work. In 2005, Timothy started his own construction company. Timothy and his wife Melinda have served faithfully in their church over the years. Timothy is on the deacon board and serves on several other nonprofit boards. He and Melinda have four children. They enjoy many outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, and being on the water. Timothy was first elected to the Georgia State House in 2012.
David Clark, GA State House - District 98
David Clark spent his formative years on a small farm in Suwanee before moving to Lake Lanier. After high school, he joined the military, went to Army Ranger School, and served our nation in Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom. After returning home, he attended Georgia Gwinnett College and is now a small business owner. David has served in the Georgia House of Representatives since 2015. He and his wife, Courtney, have one daughter. They are active members of Gwinnett Church and live in Sugar Hill.
Johnny Crist, GA State House - District 108
Johnny Crist is a Conservative Republican candidate for Georgia House District 108. Johnny married his college sweetheart, Anne, and together they have been blessed with eight children and many grandchildren. As the former Senior Pastor and founder of Atlanta Vineyard Church, he has spent his career in pastoral ministry. He holds a Doctorate of Ministry from Fuller Seminary. Johnny’s love of people and community led him to get involved in the Lilburn City Council where he has served as the Mayor for the last eight years.
Eric Dierks, GA State House - District 105
Eric Dierks grew up in Georgia and has lived in Gwinnett since 1987. He is a 1984 graduate of Georgia State University. In 1990, he graduated with the 161st Session of the FBI National Academy. Eric's security career includes 20 years with the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Department and the Georgia Department of Public Safety POST Council. At POST, he was as the Director of Investigations, investigating police misconduct statewide. Since his 2017 retirement, he has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate in the Juvenile Court, and mentored children with the Path Project in Lawrenceville.
Soo Hong, GA State House - District 102
Soo Hong was born in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was 10 years old. She went on to graduate from Georgia Tech, and then Mercer Law School. She is a successful lawyer with her own practice and offices in Gwinnett and Marietta. She has been an attorney for over a decade and in her practice, she's helped everyday people facing tough times. She has always felt a strong passion for helping people and this passion has further motivated her to run for this seat.
Ben Archer, Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners - District 3
Ben Archer is following in the footsteps of his father, Julian Archer Sr., who was a Gwinnett County Commissioner in the late 60s. Ben has worked for the City of Lawrenceville and the Gwinnett Government. He is currently employed with Gwinnett Public Schools, where he's been for nearly 20 years. He's also serving on the Gwinnett Planning Commission Board. Ben is a lifelong Gwinnett resident and grew up in Dacula. Ben's wife, Stephanie, is originally from Lawrenceville. They have three children who attend Gwinnett Public Schools. The Archer family attends Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Bonnie Rich, GA State House - District 97
Bonnie is a graduate of the Honors Program at the University of Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with honors, in 1991. She received her Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from Georgia State University in 1994. She is on the Board of Directors for Sage School and the Georgia SPCA, both of which are headquartered in Suwanee. Bonnie and her husband, Randy, have been married since 1999 and have two children. They live in Suwanee and attend Gwinnett Church in Sugar Hill.
Laurie McClain, Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners - District 1
Laurie McClain is a 45-year Gwinnett resident and graduate of Parkview High School. Now, she is raising her three children here. She has a 35-year career in public accounting and has operated a small business in Gwinnett since 1996. Laurie was on the board for High-Hope Service Center, which serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and a board member and treasurer for the Hudgens Center for Art & Learning. She also volunteers with Gwinnett Medical Center and Annandale Village. Laurie has also given her time to serve on multiple county committees.
Erica McCurdy, GA State House - District 95
Erica McCurdy and her husband are natives of Metro Atlanta and long-time residents of Peachtree Corners. They raised their three children in Peachtree Corners, and she is invested in making her district and state better for our children and our children’s children. Erica is a former staff member of North Point Community Church, CFO of the Foster Care Support Foundation, and Sustaining member of National Charity League. She commits 100 hours annually to community service - just one of the ways she works to make a positive impact on the community.
